Where is the Republic of San Marino located?
The Ancient Land of Freedom is located geographically in central Italy and caresses the two surrounding Italian regions: Emilia Romagna (province of Rimini) northeast and the Marche (province of Pesaro-Urbino) southwest.In total, The co ine with Italy develops for almost 40 km. the oldest Republic in the world. Famous not only for its artistic beauty, but also for the tax free.
The lowest and the highest point
San Marino’s territory is predominantly hilly and, for this reason, is characterized by different altitudes that give that wonderful connotation that we are used to admire in all the photos and postcards of the place.
Dominating the entire Republic is Mount Titano which, with its 749 meters above sea level, is the highest point of the country.

Curiosity
Mount Titano marks the beginning of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines and from this point some streams are born - Marano and Marecchia, for example - that flow directly into the Adriatic Sea.
The lowest point of the country, however, is Falciano - Serravalle - with its 55 meters above sea level. Recall, in fact, that the Republic of San Marino is located 10 km as the crow flies from the Adriatic Sea.

The historic center of the ancient city winds in the upper part of Mount Titano, 750 meters. on the sea level, and surrounded by the mighty medieval stone walls.
The capital, San Marino, a small mosaic of districts and streets overlooking the palaces and monuments. Just look up and the three Towers on top of the Mount draw the most striking image by tracing a sweet profile that embraces the Mount.
Walking among monuments and ancient churches
In the upper part of the city there is the Basilica del Santo, which preserves the relics of the Holy Founder and also hosts some institutional ceremonies. To the side, the Church of San Pietro, where the beds of Saints Marino and Leo are located.
In the vicinity of the main entrance door to the historic center there is Ia Chiesa di San Francesco with attached Ia pinacoteca, dating back to the fourteenth century. Not far from the Capuchin Church and the State Museum of San Marinot located at Palazzo Pergami, recently restored.
Piazza della Libertà is the heart of the country’s institutional life, here stands Palazzo pubblico (1894), seat of the Great and General Council, the Parliament of the Republic of San Marino. The Palace was restored on the occasion of the centenary in 1994, with reopening in 1996, by the internationally renowned architect Gae Aulenti.
Inside the building in the room used for the sessions of the parliament, you can visit a large fresco dating back to the late '800 of the Roman artist Emilio Retrosi. Behind Palazzo Pubblico is the beautiful Cava dei Balestrieri, where traditional San Marino events are held involving crossbowmen and flag bearers of San Marino. In Contrada Omerelli a series of historic buildings currently home to some ministries and the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, dating back to the early 170 century, now home to the University of Studies.
Another valuable building of San Marino the Teatro Titano, in Piazza Sant'Agata, a delightful 1750 balcony theater ca. completely restored in 1941 by Lng. Gino Zani who has preserved the original forms.
