In fact, while the massage therapy is combined with the medical services of the Spa through complementary therapies to the healing mud and whirlpool, the spa aesthetic is concerned with counteracting, through massages, masks and wraps, the imperfections of the skin taking care of its preservation and beauty. The sulphurous mud of the Frasassi Spa is a mixture of clay material and thermal water with remarkable beneficial properties exploited both in the aesthetic and medical field; thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, in fact, it is widespread for the treatment of osteoporosis, neuralgia, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic and joint pain.

In the aesthetic field, however, mud-based treatments are in great demand to improve skin imperfections, heal the skin, acne, blackheads, cellulite, stretch marks, wrinkles.

The caves of Frasassi

The caves are underground karst caves that are located within the Regional Natural Park of the Red Gorge and Frasassi (certified with the European Charter of Sustainable Tourism) in the municipality of Genga, in the province of Ancona. The discovery of the Frasassi Caves dates back to 25 September 1971 by the speleological group of the CAI of Ancona. Inside the karst cavities you can admire the natural sculptures formed by layers of limestone over 190 million years thanks to the work of water and rock. The water, flowing on the limestone, dissolves small amounts of limestone and falling to the ground, during a dripping that lasts millennia, deposits and forms the concretions of considerable size and sometimes even curious shapes. These are divided into stalagmites (columns that grow from the bottom upwards) and stalactites (which instead descend from the ceiling of the cavities). The shapes and dimensions of these natural works have stimulated the imagination of speleologists, who, after discovering them, have "baptized" them in a curious way; among the most famous stalactites and stalagmites we remember: the "Giants", the "Camel" and the "Dromedary", l’”Orsa”, la “Madonnina”, la “Spada di Damocle” (stalattite di 7,40 m di altezza e 150 cm di diametro), “Cascate del Niagara”, la “Fetta di pancetta” e la “Fetta di lardo”, l’ ”Obelisco” (stalagmite alta 15 m al centro della Sala 200), le “Canne d’Organo” (conical-lamellar concretions that if struck resonate), the "Castle of the Witches". Inside the caves there are also ponds in which stagnates the water of the dripping and the "wells", cylindrical cavities up to 25 m deep that can collect water or convey it to lower karst levels. The tour lasts 70 minutes. Groups are accompanied by professional guides provided by the Frasassi Consortium. The route is 1,500 metres long; it is well-equipped and easily accessible. The internal temperature is 14 ºC constant.

Information on the history of the discovery of the caves can be found by contacting the Gruppo Speleologico Marchigiano CAI of Ancona.

Not far from the caves, stands the Romanesque abbey of San Vittore delle Chiuse, dating back to the 11th century, one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in the Marche. The Museo speleo paleontologico e archeologico di Genga is housed in the cenobio of the Abbey of San Vittore (11th century) and preserves the famous ichthyosaur of Genga, a marine reptile about 3 meters long, looking like a dolphin, lived in the Jurassic Upper, about 150 million years ago.

Adventure Park

parco avventura

Adrenaline cables suspended on the water, shaky Tibetan bridges and vertiginous pulleys against the backdrop of the picturesque Frasassi Gorge.

Frasassi Avventura develops in a green area recently redeveloped and equipped, along the banks of the river Sentino and within the Regional Natural Park Gola della Rossa and Frasassi. It is ready to accommodate those who want to spend a day outdoors surrounded by nature and have fun safely on 5 adventure paths for adults and children.

The routes:

      • Yellow and Orange: designed for children (from 100cm to 130cm in height, recommended at least 4 years of age) and young people, develop a few meters from the river (without crossing it) to allow carers easy surveillance. For the same reason the platforms do not go more than one and a half meters above ground.
      • Green: path suitable for both boys (from 130cm high up, recommended at least 7 years of age) and adults: on a single bank of the river but already more than 3m high, a path to start testing games at high altitude, but not far from the view of older! The simplest among the paths dedicated to adults, green is an excellent "warm-up" gym before tackling the most difficult blue and red.
      • Blue and Red: multi-level routes for people over 140cm in height. Tibetan bridges, steel cables and exciting Tyrolean passages cross the Sentino river, testing agility and balance.
